Christmas Fair Success!

On Saturday 12th November Sustainable Wareham organised their first Christmas Fair in Wareham Town Hall and brought together a number of local community groups for a really successful event.

Sustainable Wareham’s stand presented latest advice on where and how to recycle domestic waste, updates on Electric Vehicle charge points for the town and general advice on living a more sustainable life.

There were also stands from “Men’s Shed”, Stoborough W.I., Wareham Museum, Wareham Producers, Sandford and Wareham W.I. and others.

Many of the stands sold products made from surplus material such as bird boxes and feeders, plant pots, ornaments, candle holders etc., bags of differing sizes, Christmas gift bags to replace wrapping paper, Christmas decorations and bunting.  There was a tombola and a raffle with prizes focused mainly on sustainability.

Home made cakes were sold, hot drinks and cakes were served and a children’s table encouraged children to colour in printed images about reuse and recycling.

There was also a demonstration of how to convert old t-shirts into stylish shopping/storage bags so that they could have a new life.

The fair was very busy with the people of Wareham showing considerable interest in our activities.  Importantly, funds were raised for all groups to enable them to continue their work.
