Solar Streets are coming to Wareham!

The Solar Streets initiative will soon be launched in Wareham, enabling residents to get a competitive quote on a rooftop solar panel installation.

Solar Streets work with groups like Sustainable Wareham to promote solar power in the community and then the design and installation is carried out by IDDEA, an accredited national installer. The scheme has been running in Swanage for about a year, with many successful installations.

There is no commitment in exploring the options with IDDEA and of course it’s recommended that quotes are obtained from a number of installers, as for any work, however by being able to perform several installations in the same area, the quote from IDDEA is often very competitive.

For every successful installation £50 is also placed in a fund for the local group – in this case Sustainable Wareham – and it must be spent on improving local sustainability.

We’re hoping to deliver a Solar Streets leaflet to households very soon and we will have more information at our Sustainable Wareham information event on Saturday 14th May at Wareham Town Hall. This event will also see us hosting the second Purbeck Repair Café, with sewing repurposing and repairs available.

More information very soon!
